HISTORY OF THE LONDON BRIDGE RENAISSANCE FAIRE
The London Bridge Renaissance Faire began in 2015-2016 & included a New Year's Eve Royal Ball. The original idea for the event grew out of a Project Management class at the local Arizona State University campus in Lake Havasu City. Lake Havasu has the London Bridge & its very own English Village. The only thing missing was an annual Renaissance Faire! After meeting with the Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce and the Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Project Management Group got the green light for moving forward with the event. So began this new tradition...
The Lake Havasu City London Bridge Lions Club agreed to partner with the LBRF Organizing Committee to put on the faire as one of its events. That first year was a great success, with around 5,000 in attendance. The proceeds from sales & sponsorship resulted in six $1,000 scholarships being awarded to ASU students attending the local Lake Havasu campus. A portion was also designated to help fund Ren Faire operations to make the 2017 event an even bigger success.
The partnership continued in 2017, with the event moved to January 6, 7, & 8. Despite some wind & rain challenges from Mother Nature, the faire saw another successful outcome. Event profits allowed the London Bridge Lions Foundation to award $500 scholarships to seven deserving students attending the local ASU-Havasu campus.
Planning for the 2018 event resulted in many changes. The date moved once again, to March 9, 10, & 11—in part to accommodate the schedule of the new arena headliners, the Armored Combat League U.S. Nationals, & in part to see if the spring weather would be more cooperative. The venue for the event would be another major change: The SARA Park Rodeo Grounds, where the event could grow & expand for the future with convenient infrastructure already in place. An exciting change would have organizers decide to spread their wings and incorporate under Havashire Festivals, Inc. It was time to fly on its own & leave the Lake Havasu City London Bridge Lions Club, with a sincere thank you for all it had done for them & the support they had shown when the event was but a mere idea.
Now officially under Havashire Festivals, Inc., The London Bridge Renaissance Faire is committed to continue its support for education. Going forward, the event will be true to the Havashire Festivals mission & will expand to include even more educational entities. We are proud to offer this important benefit to the educational community. Please support the event so that we may continue this worthy cause!
